Recent pressure has taken its toll and unlike other sessions there was no sign of any supportive interest during early trading as instead the market turned to explore support in the region of yesterday’s 13.97 low. Less than 30 minutes had elapsed when this level was broken and so the specs took the opportunity to place continuing pressure upon that market which extended through the morning. With steady buying around the movement was slow, however the sport had moved down to 13.86 by late morning to match the mark from 28th May and show some vulnerability ahead of the US morning. Short covering removed some of the pressure and took the price back to 14.00, and while there was no meaningful recovery this discouraged any aggressive spec/fund interest and ensured that the market remained away from the lows moving through the afternoon. Around 70% of total volume was again being generated by the Jul/Oct’26 roll, though with some interest as to whether the lows (and short-term double bottom) could break there was at least reason to focus upon the outright. In the end Jul’26 did not trade below 13.91 and so the chart point held, spending the later part of the day in the 1400 area before being placed under renewed pressure on the close. This ensured a weaker finish at 13.92, likely engineered by the spec shorts as they look to maintain pressure and test chart support at 13.86 tomorrow.

White sugar values slipped on the opening as they followed the trend being set by No.11, and with limited buying in place above $440.00 the fall gathered some momentum. By the middle of the morning Aug’26 was testing yesterdays $439.60 low, and this soon broke with traders extending the current narrow range down to $438.00. The pressure caused some movement for the white premium and Aug/Jul’26 slipped beneath $132.00 at one stage, though by noon some recovery was being experienced against position covering. Volumes remained light and this enabled values to hold within the range across the next few hours, increasingly moving further from the lows and showing signs of wanting to hold and escape the pressure being applied elsewhere. This provided the encouragement for some consumer and spec buyers to step up interest later in the day and send the market moving ahead to fresh daily highs, with Aug’26 briefly nudging to positive ground at $445.40 and in so doing extending the premium value to $136.00. The market remained a small way short of the highs through the final hour and reached a close at $443.90, in doing so extending the Aug/Jul’26 white premium to a closing value at $137.00.
