There was a look back towards 14.00 during the first hour of trading as some defensive interest emerged in the fact of some chart vulnerability, however it failed to gather any interest and soon the usual array of smaller traders were pressuring the recent 13.86 low. That level was broken quickly but with no sell stops present many sellers quickly looked to reverse positions with prices remaining predominantly in the 13.90’s for the rest of the morning. Fresh pressure was applied during the early afternoon which set the market back into lower ground, but while the market made another new low of 13.80 it seemed that scale buying would protect against wholesale losses. The final day of the index roll meanwhile brought some new weakness for the spread, with the value falling out of its recent narrow band and reaching -0.55 points as the selling met with reduced buying from the trade. Jul’26 struggled to escape from the 13.80’s during the afternoon, and while new lows were seen at 13.77 it was a fleeting push into the scale buying amidst dull trading. MOC pressure placed Jul’26 back in front of the lows, and a settlement price at 13.79 keeps the focus on the downside with plenty of scope ahead of the 13.39 April low and 13.34 contract low.

There was early buying present which lifted Aug’26 up to $448.80, a solid beginning to the day for white sugar as it looked to maintain yesterday’s recovery and get back to a more positive footing. The initial surge higher soon faded, but it was not long before the buyers returned with their efforts sending Aug’26 through $450.00 by the middle of the morning. With faster moving specs fully invested the gains extended to $453.80, however there followed a sharp turnaround as soon as some better selling emerged, capping the market in the same area that upside efforts have failed in recent weeks. While the gains were in play there was a remarkable uptick for the white premiums with highs seen for Aug/Jul’26 at $145.00 and Oct/Oct’26 at $126.00, a result of the stagnant raws prices as traders continue to sense opportunity from current restricted refining ability. The correction was as rapid as the rally had been and erased most of the gain, with the afternoon then seeing rather more considered activity. Session lows were registered at $443.30 before prices again picked up, though without the same level of interest as this morning values were only modestly higher ahead of the close. Aug’26 reached settlement at $446.30 to conclude another session within the familiar broad range, with Aug/Jul’26 away from its highs yet still very firm at $142.30.
