Pressure continues to be applied to the market, and it did not take long for Jul’26 to slip to 13.68 this morning, though the losses were then stemmed and the following few hours were spent holding a tight band centred on 13.70. There was no change to the picture as the Americas day got underway, however a reaction did follow and it was based upon short covering. Jul’26 initially shot up to 13.86, and a second wave of buying followed soon after and extended the recovery to 13.97, though tellingly perhaps the buying lacked the necessary depth to take prices back above 14.00. Instead, a short period of consolidation faded away, and the lure of the charts once again drew selling to the market and sent us back towards the lows by late afternoon. There were no new lows recorded, but Jul’26 did touch 13.68 again in the final 10 minutes on its way to a close at 13.70 that maintains the pressure as we look to see how many more shorts the funds may have added and assess whether the pressure will continue into next week.

White sugar values fell during early trading in reaction to movement from No.11, however recently they have shown some good resilience and within the first hour we saw the price move back up towards unchanged levels. A slow morning then developed with prices holding within the established parameters, seemingly sending us towards the weekend on a calm note. This picture became more interesting towards the middle of the afternoon with buyers pushing the price up to $450.60, though the move lacked the impetus seen on previous days and there was no prospect of moving into the overhead resistance. Instead, the previous thoughts of a quiet conclusion to the week returned and the remainder of the session was spent retracing back to the mid $440’s. Despite the quiet showing there remained steady support for the white premium values, and while the higher values have seen pricing volumes rise Aug/Jul’26 remained in the $142/$143 area. Settlement arrived at $444.60, bringing the curtain down on another “sideways week” which leaves us no clearer as to the future direction.
