It Was a solid but unspectacular opening for the market as Oct’26 worked between 15.12 and 15.28 through the first hour, nestling in front of the overhead grower scales as specs looked to maintain the recent constructive picture. There was no change to this band across the morning, and when movement did arrive it was in an unexpected direction with a few longs reducing some risk and sending the price back to 14.98. The price quickly pushed back above 15.00 to undo any chart concerns, and then slowly looked to build back through the range to reach the upper end with little more than a couple of hours remaining. What followed this was spectacular with more than 36,000 lots Oct’26 traded across the next 45 minutes as aggressive spec/fund buying moved the market through 15.30 and ahead to 15.59, filling numerous producer scales / limits as chart points were removed. The higher levels did encourage some day traders to lock in profits along the way, but the mood remained positive and prices held in the 15.50’s into the last hour. Into the close action remained positive and Oct’26 posted a strong close at 15.57.

White sugar began the day positively though was still struggling to find a way through $480.00 and the immediate chart resistance. This led to another frustrating morning of price consolidation edging along predominantly in the upper $470’s, save for a small spike lower which was gathered back immediately. Early afternoon then saw prices have a wobble and daily lows were posted at $471.30, but here too the market found support and began a gradual but steady recovery back through the range. Having moved to marginal new recent highs the price then finally made kits move through $481.40 and did so in impressive fashion with a sharp rally to $489.70 before pausing. This placed the Oct/Oct’26 white premium briefly out to $148.00, though the gains tempered soon after as No.11 made some additional ground through their more substantial resistance. Consolidation followed in the mid $480’s to maintain the positive dynamic as the end of the day approached, establishing a settlement level at $486.90 to leave Oct’26 at its highest level in over a year.
