Returning from the 3-day weekend we saw a placid start to trading and the early stages played out within a narrow range either side of 14.90. It seemed that buyers were again wary of scale selling placed above 15.00 that has provided decent resistance over the last few days, and so the morning developed quietly with little to report aside from a small dip back to 14.69. It took the arrival of spec buying in the US to spark any additional interest and another grind up through 15.00 developed, with the steady progress extending the market to 15.10 before resistance grew and slowed things down. Tellingly this did not put off the buyers, and whether covering shorts or adding new longs a steady stream of interest ensured that the price was able to hold the teens and be positioned to challenge last Wednesday’s 15.25 high mark as the final hour approached. One could not criticize the efforts of the buyers to push through this mark, but in the event, they came up a single point shy, and the resistance maintains for a day at least. Settlement was reached at 15.22 to ensure the chart is positive and tomorrow will be expected to see further upside testing.

It was an inauspicious start to the week for white sugar as early trading found a distinct lack of buyer’s with the result that nearby values fell quite significantly. Oct’26 dropped right back into the mid $460’s before finding any buying interest, and by the time this was uncovered the white premium values had haemorrhaged around $10 with Oct/Oct’26 values around $138.00. Prices maintained this area across the morning, and lows were registered at $463.70 along the way, and we have moved into the afternoon before some supportive interest returned to begin reversing the early fall. With No.11 moving positively there was encouragement being provided to the buyers and so a steady pace of movement maintained which erased most of the red from the board by late afternoon. Alongside this was a steady Aug/Oct’26 spread volume, though for the first time in a while this was at a level below the outright interest. The last hour saw the pace of buying grow further and enabled the price to move into credit, a positive turnaround in the context of the first hour. Reaching the call Oct’26 was valued at $78.80 with Oct/Oct’26 at 143.25, a solid close which suddenly draw the recent $481.40 high back into play.
