Following an opening drop to 20.43 we saw the losses erased to leave trading taking place across familiar ground. The rally extended to 20.75 however the highs were not sustained despite some supportive spec efforts and by late morning March’27 was holding quietly in the lower 20.60’s. The apathy around the market has only built over recent days and into the afternoon there was no spark to be found from either side which left values holding a narrow band, illustrated by another very low volume. Day traders did look to enliven proceedings with a push down to 20.40, but this failed to garner additional interest and when short covering took place a return to the 20.50’s beckoned. This left March’27 tracking along at a small loss through the final couple of hours, though the rest of the 2027 positions were showing single digit gains due to a weakening of the nearby spreads, March/May’27 slipping to 0.65 points on modest selling. There was no defensive buying for todays close following the futile efforts over the last few days, and March’27 drifted to a settlement at 20.52 which leaves chart parameters unchanged for another day.

A slow opening provided the base from which the market was able to make some mid-morning gains, and while there was no stand-out buyer Dec’26 was able to climb to $552.80 against mixed activity. Recent days have seen a lack of continuation interest and that was again the case today with the price first easing from the high and then falling back to $547.50 against moderate day trader position liquidation. This seemingly insignificant movement killed any upside enthusiasm and for the next few hours the price edged back to a small defecit against continuing limited interest. A small pop back to $549.50 proved to be brief, and with the flat price so quiet it was only the spreads that ensured volume reached a respectable level. Dec’26/March’27 saw the greatest interest with pre-expiry rolling starting to take place and helping to recover a small amount of ground, while there was also steady activity for March/May’27. The close arrived with Dec’26 showing little change, posting a marginally higher close at $547.10 while 2027 positions showed small losses.
